Activities

An activity in NowDoing is anything you want to track: Coding, 📞 Calls, Lunch, Reading. No hierarchy, no projects, no tags — deliberately flat.

  1. Open the popover from the menu bar icon.
  2. Click “Create activity” (or right-click the icon → “Create activity”).
  3. Type the name. Emojis are allowed and become part of the name — they show up everywhere.
  4. Confirm with Enter.

Tip: a few meaningful activities beat many overly specific ones. Three to eight is a sweet spot. Better one Coding activity with notes “Feature X” than ten per-feature activities.

Right-click the menu bar icon → Settings → Organize. From there you can:

  • Rename — existing entries keep the new name.
  • Color — used in the status icon, the timeline, and lists.
  • Reorder — drag and drop. Order drives how activities appear in the popover.
  • Archive — activity disappears from the quick picker, old entries remain visible.

NowDoing does not delete activities that have entries attached. By design — your historical data should stay consistent.

Instead, archive an activity. It leaves the picker but stays visible in lists, and you can un-archive it any time.

In the popover (List view) and in the Timesheet you can adjust individual entries after the fact:

  • Change activity — if you mis-tapped.
  • Move start or end time — e.g. if you confirmed the prompt late.
  • Delete entry — for duplicates or mistakes.

The day total recalculates automatically.
