Breaks
NowDoing knows two kinds of breaks: a manual pause you trigger, and a default duration that is pre-filled for that manual pause. Set the duration under Settings → General → Break or in the welcome wizard at step 3.
Manual pause
Section titled “Manual pause”Right-click the menu bar icon → “Pause”.
While paused:
- No prompt is shown.
- No new entries are created.
- The running stopwatch stops.
End the pause via right-click → “Start tracking” — or it ends automatically after the configured default duration.
Default duration
Section titled “Default duration”Anywhere from 5 to 120 minutes, in 5-minute steps. Default: 30 minutes.
The duration applies to the manually triggered pause. For longer breaks (lunch, an off-site meeting), just resume tracking yourself — or bump the default up.
Breaks in the Timesheet
Section titled “Breaks in the Timesheet”Breaks show up as a gap in the day — no entry, no activity name. In the Timesheet you’ll see gaps in the timeline and list views; the grouped view does not count them.
